Dearest NB~

Hello, lovelies. How are youuuu? Yes, yes, I'm being pleasant with pleasantries! For the new people I haven't gotten around to throwing a 'yo' at, yo-yo! ... And now onto the point of this.

As most of you know, I started a new summer (five week) semester with a lab and lecture on the 9th. It's four exams, three practicals, and requires massive chunks of my time to keep my head above water. I've been trying to keep up with the tags I'm already engaged in (and, 'course, slutting it up), but as such, I've also been avoiding any new plots or extra plot-heavy logs.

So I'm really, really sorry I didn't say anything about this sooner. I kept giving myself the impression that I could manage everything at once, but clearly I can't. That said, I'm declaring hiatus until August 11th. I'm damn sure gonna keep tagging stuff when I can, but if we're not plot sensitive, I'll probably be slow.

Really sorry guys. Hope everyone is having a lovely summer. If you'd rather close our log with a handwave or such, let me know!

There's a VR meeting happening on Day 25 related to this post. Late posting this, but I'm looking for people who would be interested in having their level 13+ hacker characters show up at it. The log for it will be up today in the log comm.

There have been plenty of strange rumors going around, from viruses that can hack dreams to people who believe they're from alternate dimensions and what's really going on with the police and the public executions.

With growing personal interest in at least two of the matters, Matt arranged a VR meeting for his AI Nen to lead to gather more concrete information about what's going on with each of those. It's easier to pass around false information when the person can be detached from what they’re giving out. People who show up to the meeting are less likely to be there solely to pass around the same rumors, or at least that's what he's assuming. The VR meeting is also a means to test the AI's functionality.

The first people Matt would normally go to for more informative input would be his Wammy colleagues, in particular the ones he was closer to and saw on a more regular basis growing up. He invites them for a small reunion to catch up prior to it and will bring up the meeting with Nen, informing them that he's trying to clear up some of the rumors.

Well this is QUITE unexpected, but thanks to some major problems at work, I'll need to Hiatus until my last day with them - August 1st. Eliot is probably going to try to break back into the hospital all the offworlders arrive in. He thinks the rest of his team might be inside somewhere. Obviously, they're not, but if anyone has an offworlder coming into the game during that, it could be fun. Hello everyone! Wings here, player of your Loki Laufeyson.

I'm bringing in my second character, another off-worlder alien but this one not only knows all about technology he's part technology. About half of his body was removed and replaced with cybernetics,military grade prostheses, etc. That means he's pretty super-human without actually being a mutant or alien. His character info has details of all his augmentations (there's a lot).

As far as his personality goes he's generally a good guy, but one of those good guys who will do a lot of crazy bad shit in the process of doing the right thing. He's very blunt, has hardly any sense of humor, but is sweet in his own stand-offish way. He'll be working as corporate military/security in New Babylon :3

Hello all, I'm Fetchie and I'm bringing in two new characters (a primary and a secondary) from, uh. A show about mermaids. Specifically, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, an animé for which all of the budget went to producing J-pop albums instead of ensuring the animation looked decent.

In any case, here are the "Black Beauty Sisters": Sister Sheshe (orange) and Sister Mimi (blue)! In canon they're actually a couple of anglerfish given human form (don't ask), but here in New Babylon they're native AU mutants, born on L1. After discovering their powers they managed to hitch a ride up to the good life as off-the-record employees of a Branch Industries VP, but that didn't work out and they're now seeking a different ticket back to the top, singing in VR gigs when not trying to get hired as mercenaries.

Not that they're that easy to get along with. Despite their humble beginnings, these girls are snobby as heck and enjoy ganging up on other people - they're very, uh. close (read: all over each other), but are usually down for destruction, capture/retrieval, scheming, and other such general villainy.

Powers-wise they can do a few things! Primarily, if they sing together in person the resulting sound induces splitting headaches, etc. in everyone who hears; for fighting they can also shove force fields at people, but this tires them out really really easily. If you really get their goat they also have a bad habit of causing all water around them to accidentally erupt into twisters, but fortunately open water sources are in short supply. (They also have various technology to assist them; it's all detailed on their character bio. I'll have their IC contact post up shortly as well.)

So yes, I'm excited! I'll have some sort of IC intro up today or tomorrow, though I'm joining the game at a bit of a dicey time: I'll be moving across the continental US in roughly a month. If things slow way down on my end, then, that's why....but I'm optimistic, since this is a slower-paced game, about being able to keep active.

This got long, so I'll stop for now. This game has impressed me to no end just reading it, though, so I'm excited to meet and play with everyone!

This is tied to this network post and the Day 22 rumor about weirdness on the network (and I apologize for being slow as hell getting this OOC stuff up).

This is sprung out of some future plot for Kazuki, and drawn from something that exists in his canon world, but I thought it would be more interesting to open it up for other characters, and got mod permission to do so. The node that hunt3r's friend ran across is known to people hunting for that particular sort of esoteric rumor as the Beltline. It's an abandoned high-powered node of unknown origin, mostly walled off from the main system, and difficult to find - the connection to the main network has a habit of shifting randomly. The inside of the Beltline is a VR sim more real than real, that draws on the memories and thoughts of those within it to generate it's surroundings. Particularly strong-willed people can exert some measure of control over their immediate vicinity, but with the number of fragmentary memories, AIs, e-ghosts remaining - the place is a surrealist free-for-all, and dangerous as hell.

On top of that, the Beltline node doesn't just have the ability to read in neural input - it can write it out, as well, changing memories and even genetic code. Many who enter the Beltline can't fully remember their time there afterwards, and some are 'blessed' with a mark on one eye - it turns gold, and the pupil becomes cross-shaped (see here for an example). When concealed, it does nothing, but if it's power is used, the possessor gains strength, speed, reflexes - but trades away the ability to act fully rationally, as well as feel compassion and empathy.

If there is interest, I'm totally willing to run a lot for characters to interact with the Beltline, past or present :)

I posted something about this in the CR Meme, but considering this has been something of a long-running plot for Kit, I wanted to put up a more official advertisement for it.

Basically, Kit is attempting to take down the Dreamit Site. I'm looking for players who want to post their Dreams just like they have been since the dream even started, except in this case, there will be a small difference.

Anyone who posts a Dream for the Dreamit Event here instead of as a separate thread can act as a carrier for Kit to upload a virus, through your dream, into the Dreamit server. Basically, you'd post a dream as normal, and it gets displayed on the Dreamit site, but behind the scenes the virus is being transmitted through your neural jack.

Please note that this won't have any negative impact on your character; you're just helping me get the virus where it needs to go.

Okay so! I need to go ahead and post a hiatus. I was going to leave off till tomorrow but. :( Things came up today, and there's a chance I may not be around as much tomorrow as I'd hoped. SO. Starting in, say, 12 hours, and not ending for the next four days, I will be hiatused.

This weekend we have a big going-away party for the Oita JETs and I'll be out of town Saturday and Sunday--tomorrow I have to visit the doctor after work before I leave for meds aaand I will probably need to pack. Saturday is DOTA time, then getting drunk time, then sleep time, and Sunday is bbq and eat eat eat time. You can see where my priorities in life lie... I will be back Monday, but most likely I will need that day to recover, clean my apartment, all those nasty adult things adults have to do. :(

So if you need a mod for something in between now and then, please contact Athena, GG, or Piipa. And I will get back to all my zillions of threads asap.

But after two enablings I just couldn't stay away from this amazing sounding place, so I'm here with Shion from No. 6. He's a bit of an airhead despite being pretty gosh-darn smart and infuriatingly idealistic and hopeful. And really trusting. And an open book. I fear for all the grumps around here, I really do.

Hello, New Babylon, this is Mica and I liked your game so much that I decided to app two characters in at once. This is sure to lead to the moral and structural decay of society in a slow arc over time, so buy your canteens and bomb shelters now because I forgot where this metaphor was going so I'm just going to keep rambling until I reach an acceptable length. There, that'll do it.

Anyways, I'm bringing in two characters. First, the sexy bisexual cyborg supersoldier from that one anime show about philosophy or catcher in the rye or something, Motoko Kusanagi. If you know who she is already, I award you ten science collaboration points. If not, brace yourself for her charming personality, because she is a terrible person and has no real friends for a very solid reason.

Secondly, an OC from a hilariously soft scifi universe where things are horrible and aliens are forever the bad guys and basically it's like if Halo, Star Trek and Mass Effect had a mutant baby and also if everyone had a grudgeboner and I guess there's some Enders Game, X-Men and Gundam in there somewhere, I don't know. Also! Also, sentient squids. Worldbuilding is weird.

Anyways, her name is Tollie and she was hiding under her porch because she has just met you and she loves you.

I'll be intro-ing Motoko soonish because I'm pretty comfortable playing her, but San Diego Comic-Con is looming like a hungry godzilla and nothing is ready, so I might just be a little slow on that and delaying Tollie's intro in the meantime.

I hope we can all have excellent threads and high five each other over our mutual accomplishments in the realm of roleplaying. Don't forget to be awesome.

Hi, all. I'm Ryl. I'll be playing Eliot Spencer from TNT's Leverage. He doesn't have any superpowers, but he fights at least as well as Batman. He's bringing a pair of throwing knives with him and, while he probably won't outright kill you, he does know how to use them effectively. He'll probably work his way into the criminal underground one way or another. Especially since I highly doubt anyone can convince him to trust people who altered his body without his consent and then demand payment.

Hello everyone :3 I'm Wings and this is Loki the God of Mischief, as I am sure you've seen all over the entire internet/tumblr/memes/dreamwidth... Loki saturation. But! Hopefully I will do him justice and we can all have some mischief together while he's in New Babylon. His powers are toned down a lot, for example he cannot teleport or use any psionics, he's a lot less strong and so forth. He can still do some fun tricks though and he will be using them.

I am taking him from the end of the new Avengers movie, but I try to keep any spoilers out of my tags or so vague it's not spoilery. Much of his personality and background are taken from the comic books that I use to fill in what happened to him in the hundreds of years prior to the movie Thor.

I'm super excited to be here, this game looks amazing /o/

And, ––they're both little buzz-lightning bugs zzaaap!! 8'] oho. Welp, one thing to note about Thor, the god of thunder, is that he is not as godly as he is use to so there might be a lot of confusion as to why he can't be his most impressive self... and please, please, keep him away from your chairs. The god ways 600+lbs :C it's nothing but tragedy.

Lightning on the other hand will still be able to retain most of her in-game abilities but she'll tire quicker than usual and Odin (her summon –– Final Fantasy games are infamous for them.. you've not heard of summons D8 ––?) will be able to be summoned however his attacks are reduced and he cannot call forth lightning within the domes, same as Thor :'c god of pleetz.

This was basically a little quick summary :'3 I would love to answer any questions or concerns or what have you! I fixed up both their journals with helpful links on their profiles, I hope it will come in handy to those who venture yon.
